- experimental diploma thesis at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg in the field of technical ceramics
- doctorate at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg in the field of material sciences, specifically, experimental studies of the failure behaviour of piezoelectric functional ceramics under electrical and mechanical loads; use of such functional ceramics for example in multilayer actuators for actuating injection valves in combustion engines or as control elements
- several months of research stay at the University of California, Santa Barbara for several months to investigate the failure of functional ceramics (funded by the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD)
- professional training as German Patent Attorney in Munich along with accompanying studies at the Distance Learning University based in Hagen, Germany
- in 2003, admission as German Patent Attorney and representative before the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Alicante
- since 2004, admitted representative before the European Patent Office

- in 2011, admission as German Patent Attorney and as representative before the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) following the professional training by Dr. Heyer
